Authentic Relational Conversations

This course involves three hours of training in active listening, equipping the learner to deepen lines of communication, build rapport across difference, and de-escalate conflict. The course focuses on helping individuals to engage in meaningful dialoge, develop rapport, de-escalate conflict, and build trust across extreme political difference with curiosity respect, and empathy.

3 hours for the course (Part I); multiple weeks for texting program (Part II)

Asynchronous

Individuals are invited to complete the self-guided course via online modules, OR attend a live training session (offered monthly) as a prerequisite for participating in the structured, multi-week ARC texting program. Both components (the course material and texting program) are required to earn the skill badges offered by this course. In the texting program, individuals will reach out to hundreds of people to engage in text-message based conversations to better understand the genuine grievances and personal motiviations of people across extreme political difference.
